Hires

Henley Theatre Services

HTS are proud sponsors of TAFF, and provide hire services from their base in Henley-on-Thames. They can provide a large range of equipment, and are happy to give advice free of charge. They are very used to dealing with Oxford student productions and are familiar with the venues we typically work in.

Viking Stage Lighting

Viking are a large theatre hire firm situated in Norwich. Their delivery costs tend to be high, and so Viking are typically only suitable for large hire orders.

THAT Event Company

Finding Sound Effects and Music

Remember that not all sound effects and music available on the internet are free or licensed to be included in a theatrical production - always check and respect the artist’s license and if necessary obtain PRS clearance for music - see our sound designer's guide. You must do this even if you have bought the music on iTunes or own it on CD - this does not give you a license to play the music for public performance.

You can also check out this soundscape resources handout created for a recent TAFF workshop.

Costume

Oxfordshire Drama Wardrobe

ODW are based in Steventon, Abingdon and are an affordable resource for good quality period costume. Browsing and collection must be within opening hours by appointment. The store is not accessible by public transport and they do not offer delivery, so transport costs can significantly increase the cost of hiring from them. Their volunteers have an excellent knowledge of their stock and of period costume so it is worthwhile emailing ahead a list of items you require so they may check the stock before you arrive. If you bring a programme from a previous show to have hired from them and credited them, you are entitled to a 10% discount.
