TAFF Training Day Nov 29th

Published by John Evans at 2015-11-27 12:22:51 UTC

Once again, TAFF is running a training day at the O'Reilly Theatre (Keble College) this Sunday, November 29th from 10am. We're trialling a new format with longer but more open ended workshops - feel free to come down whenever you're available, or just join us for lunch or tea & cake.

10am - 12:30pm: Lighting Workshop

12:30pm - 2:30pm: Lunch (Venue TBC)

2:30pm - 5pm: Sound Workshop

5pm - 6pm: Tea and Cake

The lighting workshop will start with an introduction to different types of lights, how to rig lights, and how to focus lights. We'll then move on to some more advanced topics such as programming moving lights and using clever but lesser known features of the lighting desk.

The sound workshop will start with an introduction to sound design with information about some simple effects. We'll do some work with QLab, and demonstrate the technical side of audio including how the whole system works from microphones to speakers.

If you're interested in sound, and you have a Macbook running OSX 10.8 or later, it would be great if you could bring it with you for the QLab session (we'll have a few macbooks spare at the workshop as well).

Both the workshops are designed to be open ended, and we've accounted for being able to overrun. If you have any particular things you'd like to learn about, let us know. Similarly, if you have any burning questions about anything related to technical theatre, feel free to join us for lunch or tea & cake, and there will be plenty of people around who can help you!
