About

TAFF (The Oxford University Theatre Technicians’ Society) exists to provide a forum for support, advice and training to technicians working on the technical side of Oxford University student theatre, to encourage safe working practices amongst student technicians and to help foster a greater understanding of technical theatre in the wider Oxford theatrical community.

TAFF exists through a combination of social and theatrical meetings (see our Term Card), our annual AGM and our very active mailing list. Generally, people post to the list if they have questions for the many experienced technicians that make up the TAFF membership, or to pass on important information or news that may concern Oxford Drama. Anybody may post to the list, but you have to be a member of TAFF to recieve the e-mails. If you are interested in getting into the technical drama scene within Oxford University, or would just like to expand your knowledge then the list would be useful to you. Its other main use is that TAFF members will post any job vacancies onto there, thus if you are looking for backstage work then the list is a very easy way of getting into contact with people.
TAFF is run by its governing body which is made up of the Exec, the Committee and our Senior Member. Details of who these people are can be found on the committee page.

Anybody who is working in technical theatre is placing themselves in an inherently dangerous environment, and TAFF places a big emphasis on the professionalism and safety of its members. Our Constitution and Code of Conduct for Health and Safety outline both the foundations of TAFF and how members are expected to work. They are essential reading for any techie who is representing TAFF, particularly the Code of Conduct for Health and Safety.
