TAFF Committee Meeting 0th week Michelmas
October 14, 2010
5th October 18.00hrs
The entire committee was present. A first for this committee and a good start to the year.
There was however, no agenda.
The most pressing issue was felt to be Freshers’ fair
2.5hr shifts were decided on.
Tom Chisholm attempted to make a schedule whilst being perplexed by Stephen’s confusing timetable.
Annie did not know whether she had collections.
Jobs that could be offered at freshers’ fair were discussed, and the following noted:
-Streetcar sound ops and ALDs shivani.singhal@chch.ox.ac.uk
-Murder in the Cathedral ASMs suzanne.hollister@hertford.ox.ac.uk
-Anything and everything for Peer Gynt aidan.grounds@wadham.ox.ac.uk, stephen.goodman@new.ox.ac.uk
-ALDs for Royal Hunt robert.hyland@trinity.ox.ac.uk
-ASMs for Journey’s End thomas.chisholm@st-hildas.ox.ac.uk
-Cuppers
-The Graduate ALDs Moser, 4th week
-ALDs Dinner in the BT
-ALDs Love and Money matthew.wills@trinity.ox.ac.uk
-ALD george.harding@worcester.ox.ac.uk 5th week
Shivani Singhal agreed to make TAFF signup sheet and email this to the committee.
Cuppers was the next item for discussion.
We must have access to the BT from 9am on Sunday, at no extra cost
We must try and involve as many fresher techies as possible
Alex Dickens is to be chased to find out if the form is being changed.
This was noted to have ramifications for our contract with OUDS.
Freshers’ drinks
Time is fixed (Monday 2nd week 1930), location needs to be.
Alcohol purchase was discussed:
From a wholesaler, from MCR bar? Can TAFF get a card?
Volumes needed were:
1 gin
1 vodka
2 tonic
2 orange juice
2 six packs of different beer
2 six packs of cider
4 wine (2 each)
Workshop
The timing and logistics for the workshops were discussed.
Decided that we would like representatives from all areas of theatre.
Social events
Board games night was a popular idea, to be held in 5th week, potentially on Thursday.
Committee discussed purchasing a version of the “Settlers of Catalan”
Shivani Singhal agreed to bring in Risk
New college MCR can be used as the location, but not on Wednesdays
Accounts
Accounts were noted to be at a slight deficit
Is this accounted for by outstanding TAFF dinner payments
Matt to send Shivani accounts to re-register the society.
TAFF’s 10th Anniversary
Going out was discussed, but felt to be inferior to a dinner in college Increasing attendance would be good- more alumni. Estimate of 50 people made
Matt suggests a raffle… with the prize as him for an evening. There is a dispute over the success of this tactic
Music was suggested with the criticism that techies don’t dance, so James Barber agreed to look into a Jazz band. Annie said that this would make her happy. She also said that she would not wear her elbow length white gloves to the dinner.
James Barber would like a masquerade. No-one else would. So he agreed to incorporate it into his 21st instead.
Improving list of suppliers
It was decided that we should explore more suppliers, as the list is limited currently.
It was also decided that Radio Facilities London should be added to the list, and it was noted that Caroline loves Andrew.
It was also noted by Annie that it is generally preferable to know if one is pregnant. Following this, a lengthy discussion about strategies for Settlers of Catalan took place.
The meeting was then brought to a close.
